Automatic doors - Supplied, installed and serviced by Spectra Security, experts in automatic doors.

  • How do you ensure the safety, security and easy access to/exit from and from your building or internal areas?
  • How do people who have a disability get easy access?
  • What happens to the doors when the fire alarm is activated?

We regularly have these and many other questions asked of us when we start to discuss automatic door openers.

An entrance door opener, or automatic operator as it is sometimes known, is an ideal solution to allowing people to gain easy access. Here at Spectra, we have spent countless hours testing, improving and refining our system to make sure we cover all the aspects essential to a sucessful reliable installation.

We have literally hundreds of doors now installed with automatic door openers - some simply working on their own, others linked with our access control systems, connected via fire alarms, evacuation alarms and interlock controls.

An ideal solution is to link with "Cotag Hands Free" access control allowing people with disabilities easy access into secure areas providing essential safety and security for staff and visitors.

(a) Spectra 1001 swing door operator

Automatic doors

A high performance operator, which gives economy and reliability. Can be linked to almost any access system.
We have a unit installed which has to give over 750,000 operations per year - even we did not believe it until we put a counter on the door!

(b) Spectra 2004 swing door operator

Automatic doors

A high traffic automatic door opener, which may be operated either by switches or sensors. Alternatively, when pulling or pushing the door manually, the unit behaves like a standard door closer.

The unit can be signalled to open by low level switches or over door "radar" detectors. Of course, operation by an intercom or access control is also possible. Override via reception desk switches or local key switch is also available.

When used with Cotag access control we can even programme it to respond to different access control "Cotag" cards.

For example, a wheelchair user can use their card to unlock the door. It will then open more slowly, dwell longer and give extra time for them to pass through giving a person with a disability more confidence to use the door on their own.

As one of our customers commented, "very clever".

Part of our installation may involve "blending" the units in with other décor, like brass or bronze finish or, in fact, any colour. Concealing cables and thinking through the siting of switches and readers so as to ensure users have easy and logical ways to operate the doors is standard practice for Spectra.

Maybe you have a listed building but need to accommodate "access for all". We have years of experience and hundreds of systems installed, so it’s likely we have seen your problems in the past.
