Wigan ‘Pier’ into the future with Spectra

Spectra Security Ltd has been awarded a five year contract to maintain the access control systems at Wigan Council’s corporate buildings.

The Westhoughton-based company won the prestigious contract after a competitive tender process, and will be responsible for ensuring the effective running of the staff-access systems.

Spectra has more than twenty years of experience in the design, installation and maintenance of high-quality access control systems. This contract win reflects its technical expertise and reputation for quality service.

Managing Director Barry Sloan said: “We are thrilled that Wigan Council has chosen us to provide the service and maintenance for their access control systems for the next five years. All our team are delighted to be able to work with Wigan to ensure continued operation and reliability for the future.”

All the bidding organisations had to meet the demanding Service Level Agreements (SLAs) the Council demand, as well as demonstrating best value and best practice, the companies submitted sealed bids. Spectra was chosen.

Wigan Council’s Michell Waring, who awarded the contract, said: “More than ever before it is crucial that the council finds best value without compromising quality. Spectra presented us with a bid that met out Service Level Agreements as well as demonstrating value and best practice. It is also important to us to be supporting local businesses, so we are delighted to have Spectra working with us.”

Wigan Council’s Security section provides state of the art CCTV monitoring, key holding and security and response services to a range of local public and regional organisations who look for unparalleled levels of service and response.

MD Barry Sloan added: “Everyone knows the economy isn’t buoyant at the moment, and that’s as true on a local level as it is nationally. Both the public and private sector are having to make savings, and often outsourced costs are the first to go, which puts pressure on businesses like ours”.

“It’s tough, and there can be a temptation to start offering cheaper products and solutions that aren’t as high-quality. We’ve resisted that – maintaining high standards has got our business through the last twenty years so I trust it to get us through the next twenty. And it makes contract wins like the Wigan Council one all the more rewarding, where a client has appreciated that commitment and expertise.”
